#29: Why Your Intentions Matter | Essential Omnivore Podcast

Why Your Intentions Matter

Now that we’re a few weeks into the new year, maybe you’re over the New Year, New You vibes. I know I am! And at the same time, I am definitely holding space for the growth in my life that inevitably occurs during the month of January. The days are getting longer, the holidays are behind us, there’s a new quarter and we can map out each month of our lives for the next year if we desire. On the show I discuss our ability to observe how and why we choose intentions–and what to do to make sure yours are here to serve you in 2019!

Oh my goodness Lucia, this was a song for my soul in this particular moment. Like you said! What a powerful way to look at intention. It was a knock to my stomach. whoosh. breath gone.

I did the visualization you suggested on the wounds that are inflicted by self-judgement and in visualizing found a image that represented that judgement in me. In the visualization, self judgement was a squimy black worm that was burrowing into my brain and eating away to leave holes filled with pain and suffering that would only grow and fester in its wake. When I reached out and closed my fist around it, I felt a tightness in my chest and my eyes squeezed shut and I started Sobbing. THen the worm transformed in to a beautiful multicolored buttery that I released, which rose and flapped around my head like a golden halo. My body immediately relaxed and a started taking deep breaths with long exhales. I felt as if i were being washed all over with cool air and water.

It was so joyful. so freeing. This is how I could be living without the self judgement!! And it has inspired me to work with this instead of just trying to deal with it when it arises and i happen to notice that it is there and lable it. To find ways to hold onto, to encourage the butterfly to stay around and keep the worm out, or at least, quickly dispel it when it returns. Because inevitably it will, and I’m okay with that, but I want to be ready so I don’t have to suffer.

ELENA WOW!!! You bring tears to my eyes, this visualization is SO powerful and I am so, so happy to hear you offered this experience to yourself. Thank you so much for not only giving the exercise a go, but also for sharing your experience and intentions for yourself in 2019. I am SO happy for you. <3.
